The next time you're at your grandma's or great grandma's house take a look at some of her old black and white photos from when she was growing up. Now go to some place of business and take a photo of a few people on their lunch break. Then compare the two photos. One of the biggest differences you'll notice about the people in the two photos, besides the way they dress, is that no one is obese in your grandma's photo while at least half of the people in the recent photo are. Why is that? Why is it that obesity, a problem that barely existed 50 years ago, now effects two thirds of the population? Obesity is the leading cause of death in the United States. At the same time obesity causes heath problems such as, heart disease, stroke, cancer, high blood pressure and hypertension. Not to mention, being overweight takes a great emotional toll on the overweight individual having to live in a world where the shape of a person's body affects the way people treat you, think of you, talk about you, hire you, promote you, marry you, and the list goes on. So how can we cure it?
Let's think for second. What where the people in your grandma's day doing then that we're not doing now? For one thing, they were working with their hands on the farm. They were obviously active. What do we call that kind of stuff again? Oh yea, exercise. Secondly they weren't going to Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Burger King, or any other fast food place. They actually grew and produced much of the foods they ate themselves. This meaning that they weren't eating the nutrient deficient foods we're eating today, like soda, chips, processed flour products, etc.
There you go. We just figured out the cure for obesity. It is exercise and eating right. Do those two things and you'll never be obese. I've seen people lose 30, 40, 50 even over 100lbs following those two very basic principles.
